RAY OF OVERLAY

A photo was recreated into an artwork using textiles and various textures using applique one of the surface manipulation techniques.

The Arupadai Veedu Murugan Temple was photographed at twilight for the inspiration for this piece of art. Various methods, including appliqué, hemming, electronic embroidery, discharge, French knot and ribbon embroidery, and machine stitching, were employed in this piece. A small flat led light is inserted in between the layers to mimic the setting sun by employing electronic embroidery.
