Surface manipulation is the process of adding value to a plain textile surface by creating a broad variety of patterns, textures, and colours using techniques such as dyeing, printing, painting, embroidery, and so on.
There are several types and techniques of printing, one of which is heat transfer printing.
One of the most prevalent applications of Heat Transfer Printing is the T-shirt, which is one of the most popular apparel items that take up a significant portion of anyone's wardrobe regardless of gender.
Heat transfer printing is a simple and fun technique to personalize a t-shirt. And this is how you do it:
Materials required:
• Heat Transfer sheet
• T-shirt
• Iron box
Procedure:
• Create a digital illustration or download any design or picture of your interest.
• Take the design onto the software and reflect the image.
• Print the design onto the dull side of the Heat Transfer sheet using an Inkjet Printer.
• Carefully rip one edge of the sheet and separate the dull sheet with the design and the shiny sheet.
• Place the sheet with the design onto the T-shirt and place parchment paper on it.
• Using the cloth iron machine that is used at home, set the heat to 180–220 °Celsius or in a Cotton setting
• Press the sheet onto the fabric for about 30 Seconds and remove the parchment paper.
